Jan. 27 Self-Paced eLearning
Tuesday Jan. 27 all MCCSC schools will move to independent, self-paced eLearning due to inclement weather, poor road conditions, and low wind chills. There will be no live instruction. Teachers/schools will communicate lesson information to you via Canvas and ParentSquare by 10:00 a.m. Teachers will offer flexibility and provide reasonable timelines for students to complete their work. All in person programs, which include the Early Learning Center – both North and South locations, preschools and pre-K programs, and extended day will be closed. All after-school activities are canceled.
Food service will be available at Templeton Elementary (Door 13) and Fairview Elementary (Door 12) from 12-1:30 p.m. and families can sign up at the form here to request meals. Meals must be consumed on-site.
We know that school closures and delays can disrupt your family's routine, and we never make those decisions lightly. Please refer to our website for information about the many factors we keep in mind as we focus on keeping students safe and learning on track: Click here to view the webpage

About Us
At Childs, we have over 550 students in preschool through sixth grade and our goal is to recognize each child’s individuality and make each child feel special and included. Parents, teachers, administrators, staff, and students all contribute to developing a learning environment that enables each child to meet their maximum potential. Childs is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School where creating life-long learners is a high priority. This is evident as you walk through the halls, visit the classrooms, and view the products of our thematic and literature-based curriculum. Childs Elementary is recognized for its commitment to sustainably providing the essential elements of a wildlife habitat and providing students with a place to learn outdoors and connect with nature. Childs Elementary School was named after Laura G. Childs, a longtime teacher in Bloomington. She taught Botany and Biology at Bloomington High School from 1919 to 1949. Mrs. Childs passed away in 1955. She was noted for her special interest in and assistance of children.
